A new lease of the property at 12 Low Pavement, the former Carluccio’s, was taken by an entrepreneurial restauranteur despite lockdown measures being imposed by the UK Government forcing all restaurants to close. The now owner of Esculent Restaurant & Cocktail Bar saw this opportunity to get ahead of the competition.
The restaurant will be serving British tapas dishes. The restaurant will also offer bottomless brunch as well as nibbles, wines, beers and spirits.
Partners, Craig Tyrell and Emily Birkett took a new lease on the former Carluccio’s Restaurant which still benefited from a fully fitted kitchen and all the infrastructure required to operate the restaurant and have managed to get 70 covers in place with 2m between all the tables and seats which demonstrates the flexibility and adaptability of independent restauranteurs in our region.
The property was taken on a new 15 year lease and sits adjacent to Juni Gin Lab on Low Pavement, which FHP also let previously.
Emily commented:-
“We love tapas, you get to try all the different dishes, not just one. Craig is a chef in British foods and it is something missing in the market. It is a little niche we can tap into.
As a new restaurant, we want to make sure everything is perfect as much as it can be, and this is adding extra pressure. We want all the staff to feel safe and confident and everyone to feel they can come in and have a nice meal and have that bit of normality.”
Jack Shakespeare, Associate Director of FHP, comments:-
“It is great to see that despite the challenging conditions, the market place at present still has restauranteurs like Craig and Emily who are looking to capitalise on opportunities like a fully fitted restaurant at 12 Low Pavement. We were able to secure a new lease for our client who owns a wide portfolio of restaurant premises and continue to improve and develop the restaurant offering in Nottingham city centre.”
