The Retail & Leisure team at FHP have confirmed that a unit of 8,500 sq ft in the Riverlights leisure scheme in Derby is “under offer” to Jimmy Spices for a buffet.

The deal, which has been brokered by Alan Pearson at FHP, should see the restaurant open in October ready for Christmas trade.

Alan Pearson confirmed that a number of buffet operators had expressed an interest in taking the unit which forms part of the £40 million Riverlights development.

Other tenants within the development include Holiday Inn and Hampton By Hilton, who are both open and trading and Genting Casino, who are due to open in November.

David Hargreaves of FHP confirmed one of the remaining 3 units is also “under offer”, with interest express in the other 2 units.

He commented: “The leisure element of the Riverlights development was completed several months ago and now provides an attractive walkway down to the riverside.  Derby City Council have now commenced development of the adjacent property for their head office, which after a £30 million development will see some 2,000 people working next door.  This coupled with the Bus Station, which opened last year and which is used by some 12 million passengers a year, the Westfield Car Park and the views of the River, should ensure that the remaining 2 units are let relatively quickly.”
