New Retail and Leisure Opportunities

The new Chimichanga concept – MEXIco  has been launched for the first time on 1 July at Intu Derby, designed to bring the authentic taste of Mexican cuisine to the UK.  The menu was developed by Johnny Hernandez, a chef renowned for his Mexican cuisine, who has worked in top restaurants in Las Vegas, New York and recently cooked for President Obama. He’s developed a menu to bring fresh authentic Mexican recipes to the UK, including his signature dish of puffed tacos and a cocktail menu that isn’t shy on tequila.

Johnny commented “What we’re doing different, in that I’ve created a menu that has a broad appeal. You could bring a family here, a foodie, or hold a business meeting over lunch. I wanted to create a versatile environment and that is reflected in the food and vibe.”

intu Derby continues to perform well attracting 24 million shoppers a year with lettings to MAC, Office, Jack & Jones, Creams, Bodycare (upsize) and Jessops.  The centre offers a strong Leisure and F&B offer with Showcase Cinema De Lux, Byron, YO! Sushi, Wagamama, Nandos, Zizzi and Pizza Express. Hollywood Bowl and Paradise Island Adventure Golf are due to open Q1 2017.

Derby is one of the most dynamic growth areas in the East Midlands with strong employment levels, a thriving manufacturing base and major businesses including Toyota, Rolls Royce and Bombardier.

There are further exciting retail opportunities available from 450 – 10,000 sq ft and leisure opportunities in the food court and in line restaurant units from 2,600 – 4,500 sq ft.
